Norma was hospitalized on June 9 following a fall in our living room which resulted in a fractured femur and additional, less complex physical damage, but she had been enduring the effects of a number of pretty serious comorbidities for the last few years. The cumulative effect was simply more than any 81-year-old could endure. She had fought extremely bravely for several years and had the best possible medical care – which managed her pain with modest success – but she had been gradually declining in alertness for a couple of weeks, and Saturday the 18th was the 3rd day that she was mostly unconscious.
Julianne, Bridgette and I spent several hours that day at her hospital bedside and eventually, spontaneously, we verbally assured her, one by one and in unison, that we were releasing her to “go”. Hearing is said to be the last faculty to fail and less than an hour later her spirit left her frail human body and she went to be with Jesus, her long-time Saviour and Friend.
You fought a good fight, you finished your course, and you kept the faith.
You touched many, many lives with Jesus’ love in many, many different ways.
Until we meet again….. and it won’t be long now because we KNOW that Jesus is coming VERY soon now!
What a Friend we have in Jesus All our sins and griefs to bear What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer O, what peace we often forfeit O, what needless pain we bear All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer |
